•The surface of the kidney shows linear grooves that demarcate the lobes of the kidney.
•The normal kidney is composed of approximately a dozen lobes and these demarcations are normally seen in
fetal life. In most instances fetal lobulations are loss with maturation and the kidney surface is continuously
smooth.
