Cystic Renal Dysplasia

•The photograph shows the upper pole of a kidney amputated for renal dysplasia. The pelvis has been opened to show a dilated pelvis with a trabeculated luminal surface.
•The renal parenchyma shows multiple cysts (arrows).
•This upper pole was associated with a duplicated ureter that was tortuous, dilated and obstructed at the uretero- vesicle junction (not shown). The remainder of the kidney was normal with a separate ureter and left in the patient.
