•This is a low power view of a ureter in cross section.
•The lumen is lined by transitional epithelium (urothelium) consisting of 3 to 5 layers of cells.
•The surface of the epithelium consists of a layer of superficial cells sometimes referred to as umbrella cells
(arrow). These cells are larger and covers several underlying cells.
