Hemangioma of Lung

Etiology: • Congenital • May be part of von Hippel-Lindau disease

Pathogenesis: • Unknown

Epidemiology: • Rare

General Gross Description: • Bluish red mass • Spongy, soft, may be pulsatile in situ

General Microscopic Description: • Mass of blood vessels which may be capillary, arterial, venous or vessels with characteristics of both arteries and veins • Thrombosis and recanalization may be present

Clinical Correlations: • Discovered incidentally or when spontaneously rupture resulting in hemorrhage • Curable with resection or embolization
