Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Squamous cell carcinoma of the skin has been sectioned and the two cut surfaces are shown in this image.
The skin lies towards the top of the image and small hairs can be seen projecting from the top.
Notice the large, tan-white, more or less circular lesion that occupies much of this image.
The represents the infiltrating squamous cell carcinoma in this case.
Notice as well the smaller lesion that lies towards the bottom of this image.
Extensive bleeding around this lesion can be clearly seen in the right half of the image.
This probably represents a metastatic satellite nodule that has developed in this patient.
