Malignant Melanoma •An ellipse of skin with a central pigmented lesion indicated by the two blue arrows. •Notice the irregular outline of this lesion, as well as the variegated coloration. •The areas towards the periphery and towards the top of this lesion appear to be deeply pigmented, whereas there is a portion towards the bottom of the lesion that appears raised and more red than black. •This type of irregular outline, as well as the differences in coloration between various areas, is typical of a malignant melanoma of the skin.
