Splenic Infarct with Chronic Congestion • This is a section of spleen with dark red parenchyma. • The wedge shaped lesion with the broad edge beneath the capsule is an area of infarct. • The infarct often stands out from the surrounding parenchyma and may be much firmer. • There is a band of intense hemorrhage around the area of necrotic tissue which is slightly yellow. • The non-necrotic spleen is intensely congested.
