| The photograph shows the amputated upper pole
of a kidney removed for segmental cystic dysplasia.
The upper pole of this kidney had its own ureter
which is seen here as a dilated and tortuous
structure.
The equatorial and lower pole of the kidney was
drained by a second ureter that was normal in
caliber and continuous to the bladder.
