Healed Myocardial Infarct

•View of superior surface of transverse section with the anterior surface facing downward.
•Note the area marked by 2 arrows of scarring involving the posterior half of the IV septum and the adjoining posterior wall of the left ventricle.
•The 2 portions of myocardium protruding into the LV cavity are the anterior and posterior papillary muscles. Note that both show white discrete scars.
