| Sarcoma of heart
| This is a sarcomatous neoplasm resected from the heart.
The arrow points to attached myocardial tissue.
The smooth and glistening lobulated asymetrical form is
consistent with a malignant tumor. The histology is as
variable as all soft tissue tumors, but angiosarcomas,
rhabdomyosarcomas, and fibrosarcomas are most typical.
Sarcomas are difficult to cure surgically because of
extensive grossly inapparent infiltration of adjoining
tissues beyond widest possible margins of resection.
