Organizing Myocardial Infarct
Organizing Myocardial Infarct

Transverse section of heart with the anterior surface facing upward. The superior surface of the section is shown.
Note the poorly defined irregular gray pink infarcted area (2 arrows) with subendocardial foci of hemorrhage.
The infarct involves both the posterior interventricular septum and the adjoining posterior wall. The hemorrhages probably indicate recent extension.
The gray component of the coloration is characteristic of fibrosis.
Note that the right ventricle is hypertrophied.
