| Anencephaly
| Shows lack of cerebral hemispheres and overlying
skull as well as characteristic bulging eyes.
Usually associated with facial and other malformations.
Occur in 1:1000 births.
If a woman has one infant with a neural tube defect the
chance of occurrence of another is l:50.
If she has two such infants the chance of another is 1:25.
