•Coronal section of brain through the corpus striatum.
•Shows recent cerebral infarct (1st 24 hours) with edema,
discoloration of the cortex and widening of the white
matter
•This is a middle cerebral or internal carotid artery
distribution infarct
•Since the infarct is pale it is probably due to a thrombosis.
