Normal Membranes (4X) • The amnion is identified by an "A" located in the middle of the amniotic mesoderm. • The upper blue arrow points to the relatively acellular chorionic mesoderm, which contains only scattered macrophages and connective tissue. • The lower arrow points to the bottom edge of the chorion which contains a mixture of extravillus trophoblast, old villi, and some decidual cells. • A "D" marks the region that is almost exclusively parietal decidua.
