| The amnion is identified by an "A" located in the middle of the amniotic mesoderm.
The upper blue arrow points to the relatively acellular chorionic mesoderm, which contains only scattered macrophages and connective tissue.
The lower arrow points to the bottom edge of the chorion which contains a mixture of extravillus trophoblast, old villi, and some decidual cells.
A "D" marks the region that is almost exclusively parietal decidua.
