General Microscopic Description
• Eosinophilic fibrin called Nitabuch's fibrin
• Densely cellular stroma consisting of extravillous trophoblast, decidualized stromal cells, and numerous lymphocytes
• Lymphocytes decrease in number with gestational age
• Decidual vessels containing extravillous trophoblast or converted to large vessels
