Acute chorionitis 10x •Black arrows indicate the neutrophils that are congregating beneath the chorionic plate in the subchorionic fibrin •These neutrophils arise from the maternal intervillous space and marginate toward the chemotactic signals from the infection in amniotic fluid •Note that the neutrophils also migrate thru the connective tissue of the chorionic plate on their way to the amniotic fluid.
