Arterial Fibrinoid Necrosis in Placenta

Two decidual vessels are present in the basal decidua attached to the placenta.
Both vessels show extensive fibrinoid necrosis of their walls (arrows).
Such vessels are extremely vulnerable to rupture; hemorrhage is present just above them in the placenta (blue arrows).
