| Thrombus in Common Iliac Artery
| Closer view of previous case. There is minimal, if any
atherosclerosis. This could be an embolus.
The determination of whether this is an in situ thrombus
or an embolus would entail knowing: what the heart
showed - atrial or LV mural thrombi, atrial septal
defect (why?), or endocarditis; lung pathology with
pulmonary vein thrombi; clinical history and data -
hypercoaguable state?; last but not least - details of
gross and microscopic pathology - features of an arterial
or venous thrombus? - arteritis?
