Healing Myocardial Infarct
Healing Myocardial Infarct

This is a field of infarcted myocardium, almost all replaced by granulation tissue.
A few muscle fibers can be seen in the right upper and left lower corners.
Note the prominent neovascular channels, some distended with blood.
Fibroblasts, collagen fibrils, and macrophages make up the rest of the tissue.
