layer of endothelial cells lining the lumen
•The dark, red, wavy line is the elastica interna.
•The intima consists of the endothelial cells
and the very thin space between them and the internal elastic lamina.
•It is more substantial in arteries from adults.
•Note the elongate parallel nuclei of the smooth muscle
in the media.
