Medium power view of a deposit of multiple myeloma in bone

This is a field from a bone marrow biopsy.
The normal fat cells of the bone marrow are seen around a central area of dense cellular infiltration.
While the precise identity of the cells cannot be made out at this power, it is clear that they all appear to be derived from the same cell type.
Such clonal proliferation is typical of malignant myeloma and other tumor deposits in the bone marrow.
