Low Power view of Synovial Chondromatosis

A low power view of synovial chondromatosis.
The black arrows points to the normal synovial lining.
Notice that the synovium is lined by a single layer of barely visible cells overlying fibro-fatty tissue.
Synovial chondromatoses arise as papillary lesions attached to the synovium,as indicated by the downward pointing black arrow.
The lesion is composed of a fibrovascular growth, at the center of which is a calcified focus.
The calcified area is indicated by the four green arrows.
The reason for the blue color is the calcium deposition inside this lesion.
